Who should apply
canXcer welcomes researchers and teams with a defined biomedical question, hypothesis, or project. The strength of the idea and the readiness of the work matter more than the size of the institution behind it.
Eligible applicant paths
These examples describe who may apply; they are not a closed eligibility list.
Researchers working outside large institutional systems who bring a defined question, scientific rationale, and credible research plan.
PIs seeking governed computational support for a bounded hypothesis, evidence comparison, or next-experiment decision.
Faculty, staff, postdoctoral, graduate, and interdisciplinary teams pursuing serious biomedical questions.
Researchers and departments expanding access to computational research infrastructure and governed analytical tools.
Teams investigating cancer, chronic disease, exposure-related illness, or other questions affecting veteran populations.
Mission-driven organizations with a clear research question and a responsible path for using project-specific access.
Emerging companies that need disciplined evidence, comparison, and decision support before committing larger resources.
Labs with promising work but limited access to specialized computational infrastructure or research intelligence tooling.
Collaborators connecting biology, medicine, data science, engineering, public health, or community-informed research questions.
Application readiness
State the research question or hypothesis clearly enough for reviewers to understand what the project will investigate.
Explain why the question matters, what evidence supports it, and what uncertainty the proposed work should reduce.
Identify the intended scope, team, data description, expected outcome, and likely next step if the work succeeds.
Be prepared to follow source-rights, privacy, data, method, review, and project-specific access requirements.
Applicant questions
No. Institutional affiliation is not required, and institutional scale is not a proxy for the value of an idea.
No. Review considers the research question, scientific merit, clarity, feasibility, potential impact, resource need, access gaps, platform fit, and available capacity.
Not necessarily. The application asks about current or planned physical-lab access because later experimental validation may require separate resources.
No. An application begins private eligibility review. It does not create a researcher role, project, award, or workspace access.
Private application / no sign-in required
The public application does not require an account or sign-in. Submission begins a private review and does not guarantee an award.
